10 Best Skateboard Racks

skateboard rack mount holder

Skateboard racks are a great item for holding your boards, hanging them up on the wall, and just keeping them organized in general.

Whether you’re an avid skater or just someone who appreciates the look of skateboards, a skateboard rack is by far the best way to store your boards.

Although there are a lot of good options out there, some of them are definitely better than others.

To save you some trouble, we compiled a list of the 10 best skateboard racks for storing/hanging your skateboard, longboard, or cruiser.

10 Best Skateboard Racks and Mounts

To find the best option for your needs, it’s important to think about what you’ll be using it for.

The term “skateboard rack” is often used synonymously with “skateboard mount”, but they have very different functions.

If you plan on using a complete skateboard frequently, a skateboard rack is the best option.

If you want to hang up a skateboard deck as a display piece, you’re better off going with a skateboard mount.

Racks are designed for everyday use, while mounts are purely meant to display a board long-term.

If you’re in a hurry, here are a few of my favorites:

Racks and mounts come in every shape and size imaginable, so it’s tough to say definitively which one is the best.

Even though all of these options are great, keep in mind that there are plenty of other good choices as well.

AHOWPD Skateboard Rack

If you can get past the weird name, the AHOWPD rack is currently one of the best skateboard racks out there.

It functions as both a rack and floor stand, and is an excellent addition to a room or garage space.

Since this rack sits on the floor, it comes with a lot of benefits that wall mounts don’t have.

It’s easy to move, easy to set up, doesn’t require drilling any holes, and will prevent skateboard wheels from rubbing on your wall.

The overall structure of the stand is sturdy, and it has a minimalistic design.

In total it can hold 5 skateboards at once and even has a table space on the top for miscellaneous parts.

One major benefit of this stand is that it comes in several colors, so you can choose one that matches your current furniture.

Parking Block Skateboard Stand

The Parking Block skateboard holder is one of the most popular skateboard stands available.

It doesn’t take up a lot of floor space like most options, and it also doesn’t require you to drill holes into your walls. This makes it great for holding skateboards, longboards, penny boards, or even cruiser boards.

Regardless of what you ride, the Parking Block can safely hold boards in place either vertically or horizontally.

There are built-in rubber strips on the inside of the stand to keep the board in place, and there are also rubber strips on the bottom of the stand to keep it sturdy on all surfaces.

The design is relatively simple, but it works extremely well.

Since the stand keeps space between your board and the wall, it prevents dirty wheels from leaving scratches and scuffs, which is a major benefit.

Also, it’s much lighter and portable than most other stands, making it a lot easier to move around.

As an added bonus, The Parking Block stand even includes a small storage spot on the back, which is great for storing a skate tool or other accessories.

Hikeen Skateboard Wall Mount

Some people like using skateboard wall mounts purely for display.

If you fall into this category, the Hikeen skateboard wall mount is probably your best choice.

This mount provides an amazing floating effect for your skateboard deck on the wall, making it great for displaying decorative boards.

It has stainless steel bolts that the board slides onto, and locknuts that screw onto the end to secure it in place.

Keep in mind that it takes some time to fasten a board in place, so this isn’t a good option for everyday use. Also, since it requires the trucks to be removed, it’s not ideal for boards you’re currently skating.

As far as price goes, there’s the option to buy a single mount or a two-pack deal that’s slightly cheaper.

Both options are very affordable, so if you’re looking to display some boards, this is a great option.

YYST Single Board Hanger

The YYST hanger is perfect for anyone with a small collection of boards.

It comes with two hangers that mount onto a wall to hold a board up vertically by its trucks. You can also get creative and mount them both beside each other to hold a board horizontally as well.

Each mount is rated to hold about ten pounds which is perfect for all boards, even large cruisers or longboards.

Since it’s a skateboard wall mount, it frees up a lot of floor space compared to traditional skateboard racks.

The only downside is that the board’s wheels will be touching the wall, which can potentially cause some scuffing. This type of wall mount is best for a room such as a garage where it’s acceptable for the walls to get a little dirty.

As of now, the price is around $10.00 on Amazon, which is a great deal considering it’s one of the best skateboard wall mounts available.

212 Main Skateboard Display Rack

The 212 Main skateboard display rack is an all-around solid option. Aside from holding multiple skateboards, it also has the ability to hold pads, helmets, and even bags.

Unlike cheaper brands, the 212 rack offers a good construction quality and is also much more visually appealing. It’s strong enough to hold multiple boards at once and looks nice enough to go in a bedroom.

As mentioned, the extra hooks on the bottom allow it to hold other skateboarding accessories. This can really come in handy because it allows you to keep all of your skateboarding gear in one place.

As far as installation goes, it has a really easy building and mounting process. Most people can have it put together and installed in under 20 minutes. It’s worth noting that it does come with screws, so using a drill will definitely help speed things up.

Source Skateboard Rack

If you’re looking for an aesthetically pleasing option, the Source skateboard rack is definitely worth considering.

Often times board racks can have a cheap look to them, which makes them stand out in a room. However, the Source rack has a dark pine wood color, which gives it a much more premium look that fits in almost anywhere.

As far as functionality goes, this model holds five boards total. It also has a small shelf for pads, car keys, or skate tools. It’s not the largest option out there, but it should suit most skateboarders.

Considering the premium look of it, this is a very affordable model for someone looking to store several boards.

Perhaps the only downside is that since it is a darker stain, if someone prefers a lighter color they may have to customize it themselves.

Action Skateboard Wall Mount

The Action skateboard wall mount has an interesting design that’s different from most.

It comes with 2 padded hook style mounts that are meant to hold a single skateboard horizontally.

The main benefit of this design is that it prevents wheels from rubbing against the wall, which is a common problem with wall mounts. However, it’s important to note that the board itself will still be leaning against the walls which could potentially leave marks.

The mounts are solid black and don’t take up very much space. This makes them a good choice for anyone looking to avoid clutter in a room.

Even though the design is simple, the mounts are surprisingly well built.

Both brackets are made of superior-grade lightweight aluminum. They also have EVA foam padding on the interior section, which grips the board and prevents it from moving around once you set it in.

It just so happens that the manufacturer even offers a lifetime warranty, which is definitely a huge bonus.

YYST Angled Skateboard Wall Mount

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty longboard wall mount, this is one of the better options available.

These metal mounts can hold up to 20 pounds, which is more than necessary for most skateboards and longboards out there.

Despite being small, the mounts are really well designed. They’re made of rust-resistant aluminum, and they have nice silicone padding to give them more grip.

Since the design has a more industrial shape, it may not be the best fit for a bedroom, but it looks great in a garage or storage room.

Compared to other mounts it’s already an affordable option, but you can typically get them even cheaper if you buy multiple units at the same time.

Parking Block Multi Skateboard Stand

The Parking Block Multi skateboard stand is a great way to store multiple boards in the same place.

The stand allows you to store up to 4 skateboards, longboards, or cruisers.

Unlike most skateboard racks, this stand saves floor space by storing boards vertically instead of horizontally.

One of the coolest features of this stand is that it actually has a rotating base. This allows you to easily spin it and select whatever board you want to skate.

The majority of skateboard holders are heavy, bulky, and require at least some assembly, but the Parking Block Multi Stand solves all of those problems.

If you’re looking to store multiple boards without putting holes in your walls or taking up floor space, this is arguably the best model out there.

Wanlian Skateboard Rack

The Wanlian skateboard rack is an excellent choice for a more minimalist look.

The rack comes in a nice solid black color, which allows it to make almost any interior.

It has a simple design that holds a single board, along with two hooks to hold any extra gear.

Although it’s a wall mounted board holder, the Wanlian rack still keeps your wheels and board away from the wall so you don’t have to worry about scuffs.

How To Choose A Skateboard Rack

Skateboard racks are usually pretty simple, but there are a few things you should keep in mind before buying one.

Here are some different points to help you find the best skateboard rack or mount for your situation:

Price

The price of an item is always a major thing to consider.

Deciding what you’re willing to spend should be the first step for almost any purchase.

Some of the best skateboard and longboard racks only cost $20-$30, but they can easily go up to $200 or more.

In skateboarding, it’s normally better to pay for the best quality you can afford, but you can normally find good alternatives that are more affordable.

If you have the money for a high-quality brand, they can definitely be worth it. With that in mind, you don’t necessarily have to empty your bank account to get a decent skateboard holder.

Quality

Materials are a large factor in the quality of any product.

It’s important to make sure that whatever option you are considering has a good selection of materials used to build it. Materials such as wood and metal are preferred, but some high-density plastics can be good as well.

When it comes to quality, it’s important to use your best judgment.

If the product you’re looking at doesn’t have any reviews, and the build quality looks poor, it’s better to avoid it.

Design

The design of a skateboard rack is arguably the most important factor to consider.

If the design is poor or doesn’t fit your needs, it’s not going to be a good investment.

People buy skateboard stands/racks for different reasons.

If you want to store your board in your room so it’s ready to be used whenever, then a skateboard rack is the best choice.

If you want to simply display a skateboard on your wall, then a wall mount is most likely ideal.

It’s also important to think about where you’re going to be putting it.

For example, if you want to keep your walls nice and clean, it’s crucial to buy a rack or mount that will keep the board’s wheels off of the wall.

The design of the rack/mount determines what you will be doing with it and how it will be used, so ensure that the design fits your skateboard aesthetic.

Style

People put board racks and board mounts in a variety of places.

Some people keep them in their living room, others keep them in their bedroom, and some people choose to leave them in their garage.

Since most types of board holders are like a piece of furniture, it can be helpful to search for one that will match the room you intend on putting it in.

When deciding on a rack or mount, think about what suits the style of the room it’s going to be in.

Does a wooden board stand work? How would a metal one look? How much space in the room is available? These are the types of questions that should be considered.

Obviously, style is subjective, so there’s no right or wrong answer. However, it’s still good to keep it in mind.

Assembly

One crucial thing many people overlook when purchasing a skateboard stand or mount is assembly.

Despite looking strong and sturdy in the pictures, many require some elbow grease before they’re ready to be used.

If you aren’t a fan of building things, you might be better off finding a stand that comes prebuilt instead.

However, if you don’t mind putting in a little effort, your options are a lot less limited.

Now the good news is, the majority of skateboard racks are relatively simple, so it’s rare that the assembly process is difficult.

Most people have at the very least assembled furniture at some point in their life, and skate racks are no different.

What is the best skateboard rack?

At the end of the day, the best skateboard rack is going to vary from person to person.

Someone who only has 1 board doesn’t need the same model as someone who has 5 boards.

A person who wants to store their cruiser board doesn’t need the same model as someone who wants to hang up a display deck.

Finding the best option depends on the size of your board collection, your storage space, and your reason for storing a board in the first place.

Building Vs Buying A Skateboard Rack

Although there are good quality brands for every person’s budget, some people still choose to take the DIY route.

When it comes to building a rack vs buying one, there are a few pros and cons to consider:

Pros

  • Building your own skateboard stand gives you the option to customize it according to your needs
  • You can be confident in the quality
  • Can sometimes be less expensive than buying
  • It’s guaranteed to match the room you build it for
  • Teaches you skills you can use

Cons

  • Time intensive
  • Can sometimes cost more depending on the style
  • If you’re inexperienced, it might not be the best quality

Aside from getting exactly what you want, building your own stand gives you a sense of accomplishment. Who knows, you might even find yourself doing it as a fun side hustle.

The essentials to building a skateboard rack are budget, time, and skill.

You don’t necessarily need a large budget, since you can build one with just a few pieces of wood. However, you do need a bit of time, and hopefully some skill.

The project will most likely take at least a day, and you’ll need some experience using basic tools.

For example, I recently built myself a skateboard rack just last month, and it took about 10 hours to build split over two days.

I’m not exactly a carpenter, but I am handy and have experience building skateboard ramps.

  • First, I drew my own design on paper, made a list for the home goods store, and set out to make my creation.
  • Once I had everything I needed, I cut out the shape on plywood and used 2×4 studs to mount it and hold the plywood together.
  • After I finished construction, I coated it with water sealant, and I was pretty much done.

In total, I saved about $150.00 bucks since it was a heavy-duty wooden rack that holds multiple boards. I also saved some time waiting on shipping as well.

It’s worth noting that although I saved money, building a skateboard rack from scratch wasn’t without its costs.

I still had to buy supplies, and I also spent my time, which is arguably our most valuable resource.

The personal time I spent building it was probably more valuable than the money I saved, but it was a fun weekend project that I enjoyed.

Overall, building a DIY skateboard stand/rack isn’t always the best route. With that said, if you have a workspace and enjoy building things, then it can be a rad project to try out.

Skateboard Rack Alternatives

If you want to save money on mounting or storing a skateboard, there are some interesting alternatives out there.

Buying or building a rack is usually your best bet, but if you’re creative, there are plenty of other options as well.

A few common skateboard rack alternatives include:

  • Guitar Racks / Stands
  • Surfboard Racks
  • Pegboard Tool Racks
  • Wakeboard Racks
  • Kayak Racks

Some of these options are cheaper than buying a skateboard rack, but most of them are around the same price.

The real way to save money with alternatives is to buy them used.

If you search for “used skateboard racks” online, it’s unlikely you’ll get very many results.

Skateboard racks are a very niche item, so the resale market is relatively small.

On the other hand, if you search for guitar racks, surfboard racks, tool racks, wakeboard racks, kayak racks, etc. you’re far more likely to get more options.

If you keep an eye out at garage sales, thrift stores, and online marketplaces, finding one of these options can be a lot easier than you think.

Again, it’s typically much easier to buy or build some sort of board holder, but some skaters choose to use other types of racks instead.

Are skateboard racks worth it?

As someone who’s been skating for over a decade, I can assure you that skate racks are a game-changer in organizing your personal space.

Skateboards can be difficult to properly store, especially when you are living in a compact studio or you have a single room in a house.

When you become an avid board sport enthusiast, you will start to collect spare decks, art piece skateboards for display only, and even multiple fully functional completes for different styles of skating.

As time goes on, the need for a good way to keep things organized only increases, and skateboard racks are the best solution to this problem.

At the end of the day, anything is better than having your quiver of skateboards floating around in random places.

It is beneficial to have all your decks neatly organized, rather than scattered in different rooms or lost in your friend’s car, which is a common skater problem.

Boards sitting around cause multiple risks and dangers, as well as possible damage to your other goods. Skateboards are clunky, dirty, and rough. They’re not something you want to have rolling around your spaces.

Finding an option that is right for you will save you space, headache, and maybe even a trip to the hospital.

There are lots of awesome options out there and the use case can be different for each one. Even if you just need something to hold some of your art boards, the right stand or mount can elevate a room to a new level.

Regardless of your intended use, there are multiple options that can be the right choice for you.

The exact model you buy really doesn’t matter. As long as it stores your board safely and you’re stoked about it, then it’s a winner.

I've been skating for 10+ years, and along the way I've learned a few things that work, and a lot of things that don't.
